Susan always liked to make things.

Beginning her career as a painter after graduating from The Yale School of Art , Susan became a graphic designer in NYC. With an ongoing love affair for design and the need to find affordable products to complement a modern lifestyle, Susan founded utility:home in 2004.

Susan’s designs are contemporary, with a nod to the
past - inspired by the harmony of nature and the energy of
our modern world. Inspiration arrives daily from the simple pleasures in life - the vitality of NYC, the trees in France, Droste hot chocolate with real milk, Matisse, the ocean in Sagaponack, Stevie Wonder, Le Corbusier and more!
